2010 Canadian Food Blog Awards

Do you have a favourite Canadian Food Blog? As of Sunday, November 21st, 2010, nominations will open for the 1st annual edition of the Canadian Food Blog Awards. Canadian food and drink blogs can be nominated in sixteen categories including Best Writing, Best Photography, Best Professional Blog, Best Seasonal/Local Blog and Best Baking and Dessert Blog.

Nominations will remain open until December 21st, after which a shortlist will be created for each category, and given to a judges’ panel to select the winners. The judges include Canadian food celebrities, chefs, food writers, newspaper and magazine columnists, and industry experts. Judging and voting will take place January 1st to 15th, and the winners in all categories will be announced on January 31st, 2011.

Café du Livre, Marrakech

Café du Livre is a bookstore/restaurant that specializes in international food and is often visited by ex-pats and book lovers. Located outside of the medina in the French colonial area of Marrakech, it is hidden away around a corner and is a quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Here you can eat a meal, peruse their bookshelves, and take advantage of their wifi.

I had a Brasserie Lipp salad – arugula (rocket), lettuce, beets, walnuts and hardboiled eggs, with an olive oil dressing and garlic bread.

I can’t remember precisely but I think this was a club sandwich.

I’ve been pretty busy lately, so I haven’t been posting as frequently as I had hoped. I am also behind in reading other blogs, so please bear with me!

Some good friends of mine have sold their house and recently embarked on a family journey around the world. The two adults and four kids are starting off in Spain, and will also be heading to Morocco, Italy and Turkey, among other places. You can follow their adventures (including some food posts!) over at At Home in the World.
If you didn’t already know, Cora Breakfast and Lunch is expanding further in the Edmonton area. Locations in the North and West end are already open, and other location is opening in Sherwood Park. They’re expanding in Calgary as well.
Come Dine With Me Canada starts today. I hope it’s as good as the British version! I hope it doesn’t suck like Dinner Party Wars does. You can watch the first episode online if you don’t catch it on TV. The narrator is a bit snarky, so my fingers are crossed!
