Last October, during a visit to Calgary, I stopped at Crave for the second time to buy some cupcakes. (First visit documented here.)
There were 3 of us; I really didn’t eat them all. Really. And they all weren’t eaten on the same day either. These mini cupcakes were for one friend to take home.
These ones were for us to devour:
green = lemon lime cupcakes
white = red velvet cupcake
blue = chocolate cupcake
All were tasty except that I was a little disappointed with the red velvet cupcake; the cream cheese topping was tangy and creamy, but the cake itself was actually kind of flavourless. My friend raves about the lemon lime cupcakes but I think I like the chocolate ones the best.

I wonder why cupcakes are so addictive.
One can never stop with eating just one. Or two. For sure I can’t.
I had to stop at one point that day; the sugar rush gave me a headache. 🙂
I always give in to the cupcake urge and am constantly disappointed. They all seem like a carrier for too much buttercream. The cake is always bland or has an odd texture. I’ll stick to homemade.
I find that’s true for most other ones I’ve tried, but so far for me, Crave’s chocolate one seems to have a nice balance.
I think they are extremely delish!
Too delish, actually.
It’s really the icing that’s the best part. Aren’t all cupcakes a medium for icing? I like that they don’t fall apart when you are eating them too.
I also think their copy-cat competitor’s icing tastes a bit on the rancid side for some reason.
